Recently, our team started an initiative with our early users. They are all growing a lot faster than they can keep up with. So we decided to work on helping them engage with their customers through transactional emails and SMS. The most effective way to keep the customers by your side.

Different from marketing emails, transactional emails are sent based on the actions of a user. They tend to include data and personalized content.

Before we dive in, let’s look into why we should start sending transactional emails.

- 20% more effective at converting users than general marketing activities

- Open rates: around 60%-80% as opposed to 20% for general marketing emails

- Click-through rates: 10-20%

We have now established that transactional emails are crucial for revenue and growth. We come across countless mailing solutions, but the core problems remain unsolved.

  1. Connecting internal data is impossible. Most mailing solutions or CRM solutions store your data. Syncing data in real-time is another difficult problem to solve.
  2. Marketers or operators are the ones who know the workflow logic but they are not the ones to build transactional emails. The endless email threads and ping-pongs between the end-users and the dev team continue.
  3. Adding onto #2, editing the email content and data is a huge hassle. End-users can’t own control over their tasks.

How does it work?

It's straightforward to send transactional emails through Outcode. You can see your internal customer data in on excel-like page and send emails by clicking the buttons on the right.

  • Connect your data: spreadsheets, databases, or through API, bring your data to the sheet. (We don't save your data. So please press on 'Save' to make sure your work doesn't go away)
  • Filter your data: filter by name, payment history, subscription types, or whichever data you categorize your users by.
  • Write your emails: add any data you have into the content by typing in {{DATA}}. You can edit your email content as often as you wish without having to request it to your dev team.
  • Send your emails: there are 3 different ways to send your transactional emails:
  1. HTTP Request: each time a new user joins or a customer makes a payment, embed any data you want to send more personalized emails
  2. Schedule: choose the time and interval to send off your emails
  3. Manual: select users you want to send off special promo codes or refund process notification emails to

That’s it! Sending emails at the right time to the right people will generate more revenue and customers.
